Whether working with the radio station, the media department, or helping a friend film a school project, David Horn focuses on collaborating to create a community. As a broadcaster, David thinks on his feet to use the available resources to create the best possible broadcast tailored to his audience.
Raised in the New York City area, David's love of sports was intertwined in its culture. He knew he wanted to stay in New York City for college. He will be graduating in May 2025 Magna Cum Laude from the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College with a dual degree in Media Studies and Statistics.
While at Hunter, David paved his own path. Although the school does not offer a degree in broadcasting, David found ways to make things happen. He convinced the athletics program to integrate play-by-play commentary into their live-streams, becoming the first Hunter student broadcaster. With limited resources, David was tasked with finding ways to broadcast games for free. So David learned the ins and outs of audio and video to continue improving the livestreams. He called every game that Hunter streamed for the next three years, in the process, creating his own production team to stream games.
Beyond play-by-play, David is the host, producer, and editor of CUNY Uncut, a podcast aimed at highlighting the contributions of CUNY students across the system. He also is the president and general manager of Hunter College’s radio station WHCS. In his free time, David likes to find new music and sample exciting places to eat in New York City.
